TRX SUSPENSION TRAINING
It’s the revolutionary fitness phenomenon that’s sweeping the country. And it’s offered as a smallgroup class at Pulse Gym in Daphne.
Developed by a Navy Seal about 5 years ago, TRX suspension training combines cardio, strength training and flexibility exercises to give you a total body workout in about an hour. TRX involves an adjustable nylon strap with two handles suspended from the ceiling. Using the strap, you perform traditional exercises like squats, chest flies and curls. The difference is that TRX leverages your body weight and gravity to create resistance. Your core is engaged during each exercise (whether you’re working legs, pecs or arms), so you tone your mid-section throughout the class. By changing the incline of your body, you can adjust resistance to make the workout as challenging (or easy) as you want.
Renowned for producing rapid results, TRX has become the exercise of choice among pro athletes, celebrities and their personal trainers. Drew Brees, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, and singer/actress J. Lo are both TRX devotees.
Set to brisk music and limited to 5 participants, TRX classes are upbeat and offer individualized instruction at Pulse. Because you can set your own pace and level of resistance, beginners and experts can exercise in the same class, each getting an optimal workout. Classes are designed for ages 13 and up, at any level of fitness – including seniors. Fee: $15/class; First class FREE but you must reserve your space in advance by calling 402-2734.
